Wolf packs contain 5 to 10 adult members and produce 1 liter of pups a year. The whole pack supports the alpha pair and their pups. Learning to hunt is a gradual process combining instinct, intense play, and observation. By the age of 4-6 months the pups accompany the pack to the hunting areas where they begin to understand the herd and tackle approach to hunting. Wolf parents are very tolerant and protective of their young. The adults will growl, bark or teeth the pups if their energy is too high, teaching them to respect personal space and the need for stealth.
