Coyotes are an incredibly successful species as they are adaptable " generalists" that can eat almost anything, live anywhere, and rapidly reproduce in response to population pressure. They thrive in rural and urban areas and often benefiting from human development. Removal of larger predators has contributed to increases in population. Their ranges have expanded from west of the Mississippi to now include the entire east coast of the US. They are even frond in NYC in Central Park.
